Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAE)

Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAE)

We offer Functional Abilities Evaluations (FAEs) to assess a client’s current physical abilities in comparison to the demands of their job, home, or daily life.

What is an FAE?
An FAE is a detailed, objective assessment performed by a licensed physiotherapist. It is designed to determine whether you have any functional limitations that may impact your ability to perform work-related or household tasks.
Why is it Done?
This evaluation helps:
  • Identify any physical restrictions
  • Support safe and gradual return-to-work planning
  • Guide decisions about exercise or functional conditioning needs
  • Inform employers, insurers, or healthcare providers of your current capabilities
FAEs are commonly conducted when someone is recovering from an injury or disability, and are often completed alongside a biomechanical evaluation for a more comprehensive picture.
What to Expect
  • Assessment time: Approximately 1-2 hours
  • Includes: Functional task testing, clinical observations, and a detailed summary report
  • Funding: Available through private pay or insurance-sponsored programs
Our team works closely with clients, insurers, and employers to ensure clear communication and a focus on safe, evidence-based recovery.
